Russ Ronat is a New York based contemporary artist and the creator of Project Holocene, a selection of large mixed media drawings of endangered animals and projected video of the drawings in creation.
The project features large expressive drawings that capture the fragility and beauty of many species of animals. The work has been a featured exhibit at cultural institutions internationally, including the Savina Museum of Contemporary Art, The National Taiwan Science Education Center, The Phoenix Zoo, The Birmingham Zoo and other locations. It is the goal of the project to use art as a tool to bring understanding to conservation issues.
Art has a unique role in building empathy and encouraging an understanding of the necessity of conservation.
The exhibition aims to inspire compassion for the protection and flourishing of biodiversity.
